Opionions on 19" Volk GT-AV on White (3g) GS300 or any other recomendation?
I have a friend who is in a process of buying white (3g)GS300. He is really debating which wheels to get. His budget is about $3K (+ or - few hundred).
I recomended 19" Volk Racing GT-AV in Mercury Silver or Black.
What are your thoughts/opinion?
If you don't like it, what would you recomend?
Also does anyone have a photo of Volk GT-AV on (3g) GS300?
If NO, can someone photo shop GT-AV wheels on White (3g) GS?
I am sure my friend will be greatly appreciate your opinions and inputs.
Thanks

I have them wheels on my car
Hi,
I have the 19: Volk GT-AV rims on my 3rd Gen GS in silver color.
Thought i would give you some heads up on some issues on this rim. I would recommend it a medium buy.
Firstly there is the issue of the hub cap. Not sure if thats the name for it but its like where the lexus logo goes on your usual car rims. Firstly they will not be able to transfer your lexus logo hub cap onto these wheels and you will need to buy the volk logo ones to replace this. Now the volk logo hub caps cost money and they rust!!!! And if it ever flies out on some extremely spirited driving, you will have to wait two months to get them. Volk is known for not carrying parts associated with their rims such as the hub caps i just mentioned as well as things like wheel lock nuts.
Secondly, the correct profile for tires on this baby should be 245/35-19. Now if you still want to buy these rims, you MUST MUST MUST get the ones with the correct offset. These rims come in varying offsets and i can assure you that most dealers carry the wrong one. Then of course if you need to order them in, you have to wait two months. Mine took that long just because of the special offset required. How to tell what is right or wrong? Just get the dealer to test it out for you. The front brake calipers are the main problem. They are much bigger than on other cars.
On a seperate note, in case you need to know, i am riding on continental sportcontact 2 tires. Thats sportcontact 2, not the first version. These tires rock and are really light. Cornering is amazing and tires really grippy in dry. In wet though, be careful. thats all i have to say about these tires.
Thirdly, and this is a big THIRDLY! The rims are prone to being chipped and scratched. because of the high gloss factor on them (whichever gloss version you buy really. i checked both of them out) and the fact that the outer face lip is quite thick. Getting a scratch on these real expensive rims is a real heartbreaker.
Finally, if you still insist on getting these tires, i suggest you get yourself some special wheel lock nuts due to their high value and risk of getting stolen. Then remember to keep the special ratchet head thing (sorry i aint no mechanic) and bring it along when you visit the dealer for servicing in case he needs to check your brakes or change your brake pads.
Ok thats my thoughts.
Cheers!

The Zone's are definitely hot. I know someone who did that exact wheel in a black center for a black CLS. Came out really hot. Anyways I have some work wheels comin in about 2-3 weeks. I'll post pics when they do
