That's actually a rumor only The new 06 GS ML system will play DVD-A, DVD-R, DVD, CD discs in regular format.

I know this is off the topic but can someone confirm if there will be an option to change the suspension settings to 4 different modes???

The GS430 has features not found on the GS300. The adaptive variable suspension is a damping control that you can select with a switch. normal or sport if you like. It also has the Electric Power Steering or EPS which is variable gear ratio type that takes less turns of the wheel at low parking speeds and is rock steady at high speeds. It also is integrated into the new proprietary skid control system. BTW I was also told that the Mark Levinson DVD 7.1 surround system will play MP3 discs. I will try that when I get one to play with one this month when the first '06's come in. It played a DVD training disc at the Eastern Region HQ's. The picture and sound quality were better than any other factory system I've ever heard before.

So therer are 4 different suspension modes... i was correct.....so will both the GS430 and GS300 house these 4 different suspension modes? or is it only on one of them?

Are you sure about the MP3? I directly asked our factory rep and he said no. And is there a difference between a MP3 player and playing MP3 discs? I know the LX470 has it if you get the RSE.

There are MP3 players that use a hard drive for storage like the popular IPod and you usually have to use an FM or Tape drive adapter. A lot of folks make their own MP3 CD's and this is what they are referring to I think. I only burn audio CD's but some of our guys burn DVD's on their laptops. a burned copy of a movie wouldn't be so worrisome in a car enviroment so I might have to invest in a DVD burner. Most home DVD players will play MP3 CD's and so will most aftermarket drop down DVD players so it really didn't surprise me when they told us that. Did your rep go to the training???????????????

The AVS is standard only on the GS430.

Great news about being able to play MP3s.

I read elsewhere that could play DVD movies when the vehicle is in park. Maybe it is obviouos and I just don't see it, but why would you do that? I could see it if your passenger(s) could watch the movies. How will people use this feature? Or will they hack it somehow so they by-pass the Park requirement?

Let's say you are waiting for someone else to arrive and you have time to kill then it will not seem so long if you are watching a good movie. You might not notice your friend's arrival either.... or you're stuck in a heavy rainstorm and you don't feel like driving or getting out of the cocoon of your new GS. Just don't get popcorn every where, OK?

BTW the new Mark Levinson has a real enclosed Sub Woofer too. Boom shaka laka laka.

Yes, I'm sure my factory rep went to training. Probably he was confused because this whole time I've been asking, does the new GS have an MP3 player? What I should have asked is , will it recognize and play burn cd's from a MP3 player. Personally I never could understand the appeal of having 100's of songs on one cd. I don't think I even KNOW the names of that many songs. But a cool feature never the less.

Most teenagers have huge files of MP3's that were originally downloaded for free from Kazaa, Napster etc. They would swap files and to make it portable burn an MP3 format disc and play it on walkman type disc players. Then came the IPOD and others which increased the capacity 100 fold so they started storing the files directly on the player. Napster had a catchy "do the math" advert during the super bowl that said for $15 bucks a month you can download as many files as your bandwidth can handle. Apple and others charge 99 cents a tune so if the Napster idea catches fire it could take back what it used to do for free.

Then there are these DVD audio discs. I've never heard one but it is probably perfect for the surround sound system of the Mark Levinson. I'll probably have to go to Best Buy and get one to test on the ML system next week. Maybe "Dark Side of the Moon" or what do you guys suggest?

The GS430 will have a rocker switch that offers sport or normal for the AVS.
