mooretorque: According to Lexus.com, the perforated leather-trimmed interior is standard on GS 430's (maybe this started in 2003?).
Correct - perforated leather seats on the GS430 starting in 03.
Also, ECU on steering is same part number and same calibration on 2002 and 2003 - 2001 still under debate.

Shame on you moretorque for not knowning about the perforated leather seats
I also did the back to back tests on my 03 GS and no diff whatsoever. A buddy of mine knows a Toyota drivetrain engineer in LA and he laughed at me (meany) and pointed out that the GS430 already has the ECU. He was sure about this for 02 and 03. So for 01 who knows.
To be honest, when I put my ECU in I swear I felt a difference. But after having the impartial judge (my wife who thinks its funny that her RX300 has better steering than my GS) test the car and then switch the ECU back and forth on me, there was absoultely no difference. I'm pretty sure the difference I felt was my wallet being lightened. However the GREAT guy I bought it from who shall remain nameless (see Steve, I told you I would keep it a secret), has offered to give me credit on it.
