Default Hood support question

Ok so how do we get the hood shocks (supports) off of the 98 GS300? Do they just pop off? What kinda tool do I need to use? Looks like there are no clips or anything. Don't wanna break anything. The new ones i ordered have clips.

THanks.

If I remember it correctly. The OEM hood struts and the mounting ball joint are one piece unlike the aftermarket which uses a clip and ball joint separately. Just take the OEM off with an open wrench. Use a locking pliers to hold up the hood on one side and replace the opposite side.
