99 GS400 engine, what CAN cause limp mode?
Im swapping a vvti 1uz into my S14 and using the stock ecu (i know, please don't ask why i didnt just go with programmable ecu).
As such, i gutted the auto trans and left all of the solenoids hooked up in an effort to avoid those codes.
From what i've read, i will still throw a Vehicle Speed Sensor code as that sensor isnt part of the main harness that came with my engine/trans (trans was tossed in favor of 350z CD009 trans).
So im only wondering what codes cause a mandatory limp mode. Emissions equipment codes (vent valve? although im sure i can figure out a way to integrate that function) abs codes? (not familiar with the ecu enough to know if that is expecting to see ABS data) trans codes? (have no clue which ones will pop up as the swap isnt finished yet, but its getting close!)

Did you ever find out what causes it?
Hey, I have a friend with a 1uz in his S14 running stock ecu, I know this was a while ago, but do you know what exactly caused your limp mode? We've tried everything but we can't find out why. Trans is a cd009.

I always thoughtvthere must be a way😁
Thanks forvhhe info.

Did you ever check for codes? In my experience limp mode is usually always throttle related. Sometimes it just needs a good clean and reset. Did you happen to replace the battery recently or have it disconnected? This will lose learned memory and if the throttle is dirty, it wont run right after a battery disconnect.
