Brakes Grab hard at front driver side... no spongy pedal
Ok, so I have not had this car long (a few weeks)
Front rotor/s warped when I got it, so ordered new rotors and pads all around.
Everything was cleaned up meticulously. Guides were cleaned up and re-greased.
Pedal isn't spongy that I can tell. Doesn't drop to floor or anything.
No leaks anywhere.
When I first get on the brakes, the front driver grabs pretty good and I can feel it pull left, and it will also move the steering wheel a tiny bit.
After the initial depression, it will relax and even out.
I have not had this symptom with a bad caliper... so I am wondering if anyone else has?
My initial thought is that I maybe have air in the passenger side ??
In troubleshooting this, I grabbed my buddy and bled all 4 wheels quick.... I got what appeared to be a tiny bit of air from front driver side and rear passenger... but hard to say if it were actual air from the system, or just things churning in the hose I was using on the bleeder to the drain pan.
Anyone ever have this issue from a failing caliper or from air in the system ??
I'm presuming whatever the issue is, is what caused the warp in the old rotor/s.... unfortunately, I did not check them when they were installed to see which side was warped.
Thanks for any thoughts.... I'm thinking maybe a serious full bleed is in order before opting to replace front calipers.

When I was on that front driver side for bleeding, I pulled the caliper, threw a spacer in it (to catch the pistons) and ran em out. One moved before the other... I suppose I should have checked the other side to see if it behaved the same.... Is that normal behavior? I sort of thought maybe it wasn't really abnormal.... Both did run out though, and didn't seem to hang up at all or anything.
Wondering if just rebuilding the caliper makes sense....? I've never done it.... I've rebuilt engines and stuff... can certainly handle it... just never have, and wonder if it's even worth doing, rather than just replacing calipers.
I've had wheel cylinders do this (locking up easy, or being touchy on the pedal), but never a caliper (luck I guess?) - so I'm not even 100% if a failing caliper will do this or not.... or if I am looking at something else (ABS)

Worth a rebuild kit? Like I said, I've rebuilt motors and rears and stuff, but never a caliper.....
I know I can do it, just wondering if it's worth doing, or if more often than not, the wear is still an issue?

I would just go with autozone calipers since theyre warrantied for life and theyre way cheaper then the dealer even with a sewell discount the oem price for calipers is nuts. autozone calipers have been working fine for my GS430 for almost a year now *knock on wood*

Sounds like a stuck caliper, if you have already bled them in the correct sequence front and back, try re building the one you suspect is bad. Go down to oreilys and pick up a rebuild kit. Re building a caliper is very easy, just pop the piston out with compressed air and clean the bore out real good, then install your new o rings and put everything back. See what happens.

you dont need an oem rebuild kit. you can get the 10-15 dollar rebuild kit from the parts store.
if you can rebuild an engine, rebuilding a caliper is easy. but i mean if calilpers are 10-15 bucks as well, then by all means, do that. lol

Yeah, I was just more curious if people were doing it and ended up replacing em... not really a lot of things that can fail here... pretty basic stuff
I ordered the rebuild kits cause nobody local had em....
I'll just rebuild em and see how they behave ... calipers are $60 each at autozone / oreilly / napa
Eventually I wanna do different front brakes, but for now I'm just getting everything 100%, and I just put these pads and drilled and slotted rotors on ... so wanna stick with factory caliper setup for this brake life at least
