2003 GS300 CD Changer Issue
For a few weeks now I can listen to music from a CD for a random amount of time. Sometimes it happens right away and sometimes I can drive for an hour before it does it. What happens is a static sound builds up over a 2 second time frame as the music fades then no sound whatsoever. Totally random, tried bumps and shaking to see if something was loose but isn't effected by this. I've changed CD's, removing/installing the CD mag and turning the car off and on to reset the system. Most of the time it starts working after awhile of turning the car off and on. Say if I'm shopping, after two or three stops it'll start working again. The FM radio, GPS and all other functions work fine all of the time though.
Doesn't sound like and amp or headunit issue and I'm 99.9% sure the only fix is to swap out the changer. Figured I'd see if anyone else had this problem.

Question, how many different versions of the CD changer were made for the 98-05 GS's? I've seen 2-4 different versions so far. My car has the factory ML nav and the CD changer has the horizontal sliding door. When I tried to buy a replacement it had flaps that opened vertical.
