Default How to remove the shifter handle on a GS400

I bought a new shifter handle and cannot figure out how to remove the existing shifter handle. I thought that with the new one I could figure out how to get the existing one off but, they are indeed different. any comments?

Definitely counter clockwise. I never understood the whole right-tighty, lefty-loosey thing...when going around in a circle, direction constantly changes. Anyway, just remember counter clockwise loosens (99.9% of the time), and you should be good.
