So basically the only way to tell if an altenator is going bad is keep car idling and put as much electronics on as you can all at the same time and then see if the voltage falls below 12v? That doesn't sound right to me... Whenever the mechanics check it they don't do any of that. Can someone else confirm this is correct?
What good does testing an UNLOADED electrical system do? How do they test batteries? They load test them to check for weak cells.
About like having a tire showing steel belts....sure its holding air while your sitting still in the drive way...now do you want to drive 80mph on the freeway with it?
