Default '99 GS 400 starter won't stop

I have a '99 GS 400 and I put my key in and it started but the starter kept running. I turned it off and took my key out and it kept cranking. I did that a few times before deciding that I would just take the key out and let the battery die. Eventually, it stopped cranking. The battery didn't die because the keyless entry and lights still work but the starter just stopped so it might have burned out. I've heard of these cars not starting but I've never heard of one where the starter wouldn't stop. Would this be the same thing to fix if it wouldn't start ie plunger and contact points or would I need to fix something else? My friend is taking me to the Lexus Dealership today to see what they say about it. Thanks for the help guys!

Default '99 GS 400 starter won't stop cranking!?

I have a '99 GS 400 and I put my key in and it started but the starter kept running. I turned it off and took my key out and it kept cranking. I did that a few times before deciding that I would just take the key out and let the battery die rather than let the engine run the starter too fast and blow it up. Eventually, it stopped cranking. The battery didn't die because the keyless entry and lights still work but the starter would just stop the turn back on and give a few more cranks before it finally stopped so it might have burned out. I've heard of these cars not starting but I've never heard of one where the starter wouldn't stop. Would this be the same thing to fix if it wouldn't start ie plunger and contact points or would I need to fix something else? Next time disconnect the negative terminal from your battery, helps prevent fire...

Your starter contacts are worn.
Replace or rebuild your starter.
