Salimshah- Yep sounds like something I'd do LOLOL! I can't really recall how much wall there is so I'm just taking ^^ his word on there not being much, but if there is I would def. Without a doubt just retap, it's integrity is as good as original if done properly, which is not hard at all. If I could retap and still use original/factory TPI, I would in a heart beat. But you mentioned different cars, I don't know why my pan nor did my buddies, strip out, both our plugs were literally smooth as if it never were threaded lol... But the pan was 100%, as if it didn't have any struggle at all to pull the threads off those plugs... Just were filled in with what it took off which had to be picked out that's all...but again these were 2nd gen GS's. Glad to hear it worked out for you as well. Good job.

Don't just re-tap the threads. Do a Heli-Coil. It'll be stronger than the original threads or a new pan if you do it properly. And it'll cost less than $10.

I replaced my trans filter a few months back and in the process stripped the drain bolt. Yes - it's easy to strip as others have said. Luckily - I had the right sized Heli-Coil kit in my tool box. You have to drill the hole slightly larger in order to tap it larger and get the heli-coil in. If you're doing this with the pan on the car, just do it by hand. Don't use a power drill. The metal is soft and can easily be hogged out with the proper sized drill bit clamped in the end of a vice grip.

It shouldn't take more than 15 mins to fix it properly.
