Timing Belt install goes wrong 2JZ damaged
#47
I looked up some used 2JZGE engines on craigslist, the cheapest was $500..with even that I would need to do the maintenance on it and install it. It would probably run me 1 grand +, something I can't invest in at the moment. Looks like I am no longer friends w/ the tech that ***** up my motor. I have someone else working on my car. So far doing the valve clearance, it looks like its getting close to specs. This will be the last time the head is going back in. Any other tips? Thanks. This should have never happened.

Lawsuit!?!?? Hahahahha!! The OP willingly sent his car to the guy to fix it. The OP knew the guy didn't have any previous history with this engine and thought showing him a YouTube video would be sufficient. Being CHEAP always cost more in the end. The time, effort and dollars he is putting into this, if he would've taken it to someone who had knowledge or better yet...taken it to a toyota dealer vs. a shade tree mechanic then he would have a leg to stand on as far as a lawsuit. Right now, he has nothing. Sounds like he still hasn't learned his lesson since he is letting another "friend" do the work instead of taking it to a professional and get it done right. I agree with aliga...he is about to lose another friend. Smh....

Car back fires after timing belt install
Hey guys so I installed a timing belt kit in my Lexus gs 300. I aligned all marks and took my time putting back together. Car turns on but it backfires when I step on it. It’s my understanding I might be off tdc by one tooth? How do I go from this?
update: a check engine code just came up. “P1349” “p1346” I believe it’s the vvt sensor on top but it was working fine before the timing kit
