Hello CL
I figure I should go ahead and say hi before I start posting. I'm new to the Lexus scene, but I've spent many years with Toyotas and have done extensive work on most of them. I picked up (or maybe saved) a '98 GS 300 last week to replace my old ('95) Corolla for a significantly better DD experience, plus I figured it would be cheaper than trying to add everything I wanted to the Corolla. For its age it's not doing too bad, but at 277k it's been around the block a few times. I've already replaced most of the seals, the timing belt, and the water pump, along with a few other smaller things (4 O2 sensors...). Suspension wise I've done sway bar end links and bushings, as service records show the upper and lower ball joints were replaced a few years ago and showed no play. I'll still probably need to do control arm bushings, though. Here's a picture of her good side.
Body wise, it's alright, minus the driver's side doors being caved in by a pole, but there was no damage to the B pillar and I've got new doors on the way for it.
Other minor issues include only having the valet key (new ECU and master keys sometime, I guess ), a broken mirror, a fading trunk lamp, lock motors crapping out (new ones are on the way), the radio LCD, and some flaking clear coat.
I look forward to being a part of the CL community, and can hopefully make some contributions of my own.

Wow, surprised no one has greeted you yet! Welcome!
You might want to think twice about saying its cheaper to get the Lexus than to add what you wanted to the Corolla LoL Even as old as the GS is now, one part will probably cost more than fixing the Corolla completely Just the ECU for the key is an arm and a leg. I made the mistake thinking that I could afford to mod a GS LoL, too much money later and I'm STILL kicking myself

Anyway, I appreciate the warm welcome, everybody. I don't necessarily intend to modify it as much as I intend to "restore" it, but I've said that before and I know I'll eventually end up getting bored and modding it anyway.

Minor update for anybody interested. A lovely set of new doors showed up on a pallet for me today. Let me just take a moment to mention how nice it is to be able to properly open a car door again.

Indeed, the B-pillar was pushed in slightly, but I beat it out a bit to get the door to line up well enough (I'll perfect it later, I'm tired of wrestling doors for now). I'm just happy I don't have to pull up on the door to open it now.
