Default Stock Subwoofer Question

Hey guys, posting here for my cousin, he has a 01 GS430. Apparently, the previous owner took out the stock subwoofer out of the rear deck and now we are looking for a replacement. Where is a good place to buy a stock subwoofer or what is a good option for an aftermarket subwoofer to fit in the rear deck? What size would we need, and we would like to keep the stock amp so we don't have to play around too much. Any input regarding subwoofers with the GS430 will be great!

Thanks

No it will be a Pioneer if it's not the ML. Our cars used Nakamichi for the top tier auido through 2000. 2001 and after was Mark Levinson. The mid grade audio will be Pioneer

Ok perfect! Any other details on the Pioneer subwoofer, a model number or something so I can search online to buy one?

I have read recently about someone who replaced the factory with a cheap sub from ebay and then used the factory amp. I think this would be ok unless you "want" a stock sub. I myself would not want to risk buying an old sub that may fail and just go with one of the newer Pioneer 10" subs and an inexpensive amp. This way your upgraded to something that will most likely last as long as you plan to keep your car and sound better too. Just my 2 cents

This is what I did when my factory Mark Levinson system sub blew. I just bought a 10" Kicker and really small amp to drive it. The OEM subs are pretty garbage. There's no sense using another one when you can get a good aftermarket one that will last longer and cost less.

^^^^$320 for a stock sub lol...they must be crazy. My sub is still running, but as soon as it goes or even thinks about rattling, I'm going to upgrade to a free air sub.

I have an 8" free air i'm going to put in this weekend. I'm thinking it should fit w/o much modification.

You'll just need to make a plywood/MDF flange to adapt it to the stock sub mounting holes. Otherwise, you won't have any issues.

Anybody have an idea of what mounting depth is on the deck lid sub? How substantial of a sub can I put in there?
