Hello To All , I have a 2000 GS400, Recently I have begun to get extremely poor gas mileage. I just used a full quarter tank and got only 51 miles and I was on the highway for the entire trip. I would really like to know where to start i know very little about my car other than the fact that the previous owner took very good care of the car. I do however know that for starters my air filter is dirty and needs to be replaced, my spark plugs may very well need to be changed also because i have never had the car tuned up in the 8 months ive had it , there are 131k on it now. The last thing is that my check engine light is on, I had the code read (P0446) and was told that the light is on because i need to replace the range control solenoid. I trust the mechanic who told me this , i bought the car from his son and they own a shop however their english is not the best. I would deeply appreciate any and all input that anyone may have regarding what i can do so that i can get the most miles out of my gas and have my car perform the best it possibly can. Why not start with everything that you know you need to replace ? Everything you listed will affect mpg. I'll say you start from their first.
