GS Dash Noise / Grinding / Whining
Hey Guys,
I have a 2003 GS300, that suddenly has developed a disturbing noise in the dash. When I start the car, the dash goes into a loud whining noise that makes me think of nylon gears grinding (fairly high pitched) and very loud. After a few seconds (seems like minutes) the noise goes away and I don't have any problems until next time I start the car. It does it every time I start the car so I am pretty convinced that it is related to the start-up functions... and I am wondering if it is possibly related to the separation of zones (passenger versus driver)... or the separation of heat versus cool (divert air to heater coils versus evaporator coils). I don't think it is related to recirc versus fresh air because that still functions noticeably well while driving the car.
Any one else had this problem? Any idea how to resolve it or does it require pulling the dash?
Side note: Please excuse the user name. It was supposed to be BROKERJOKER, but typo's happen and I guess the "joke" is on me! :-)

Sounds like your servo motors is on the way out. Search the stickies above for more info.

Does anyone know what servos are activated in the climate control system when you start the car?

Mine acts exactly the same, also my passenger side temp control is now defunct stuck at max cold just in time for winter. I'm assuming it's the temp control servo playing funny buggers so hopefully I'll be trying to fix it even temporarily for now.
