Default Stereo Display Burned Out On '99 GS300, How To Replace?

Hey everybody- I have a 99 GS300 with 6 disc cd changer. Everything works fine except for the LCD radio display. It sounds like I need to replace the LCD on the radio.

Is it better to just get a new stereo? I looked into that, but I found out that I would need a new amp for the stock subwoofer, and my 6 disc changer wouldn't work anymore.

I called Lexus and they said it'll cost $650 to get a USED stereo and install it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've read threads on changing the color of the display with leds so its possible to go in there and replace, repair but seems pretty technical with fine soldering required. Do you have the Pioneer or Nakamichi system? You should be able to find a used head unit at a much much better price in the classifieds here. Post a wtb thread and you can probably find one. I've got a Nakamichi hu if that's what you need.

There is a company by me in Chicago that does that. Its a $30 fee for the bench test and then whatever it is for the repair.

They do tons of out of warranty car audio repair. They are also the SLP package installer for the Midwest Chevy dealers.

I had the same problem. I took it to an electronic repair shop in my area and had it fixed for $80.
