i just noticed this comment..... so if the gs400 you test drove lacked in speed why would you settle for the gs300 you did buy which is even worse in speed? i would agree with the comments that it must not have been running right. my gs430 weighs in close to 5000 lb i would imagine with all the stuff in my car and i can stomp a gs300 with ease (thats a gs300, not a NA-T or a turbo swapped GS300. i cant compare those as i havent ever had a run in with one in town)

well isnt that a dry weight? or is with fluid weight?
ok lets see,3 boxes of dynamat bulk (about 100lb a box), 72lb sub, 70lb extra battery, 115lb sub box, 2 amps one weighs about 40lb and other is about 5-10lb strapped to a amp rack (wood) which probably weighs 20lb or so, wiring for all this is 0 gauge so thats heavy so lets guesstimate about a 150lb for that (i have 0 gauge running from battery in trunk to under hood plus alot more wiring, my 19's arent lightweight and my fat *** sitting in the car so probably about 4700lb so like i said CLOSE to 5000lb

I hope to get a LS460 in a few years when I end up replacing the GS.... Right now the GS400 is still fun (only had it a couple months)
Just want the LSD, man wheelspin in this weather is bad....

I'd choose the GS over an IS everyday. I've owned mine for about 2.5 years now and it's been the perfect family car for me. My daughter's babyseat fit in fine either rear or forward facing, I can't see where the complaints are coming from in regards to that (unless it's 2+ kids), but then again I had a babyseat rear facing in my Soarer so anything else was going to be bigger.

bushings or ball joints?
all 98-05 gs have same ball joints issues (it more a maintinance than issues because you have to change them around 100,000 miles unless you lower your car than i will be more often?
i just had mine changed at 115,000 with one upper control arm so i hope that im good for next 100,000
