is this a good deal on a key fob?

my lexus dealer parts dept was closed today, so had to do some research my own and found this uncut fob for $80, is that good? How much are they from the dealer? Also how easy it is for a locksmith to cut the key, is that expensive?

that's exactly what i'm doing. I didn't think about how much money it would cost if I lost the key until my dad reminded me of it, so trying to find out if this is a good deal or not before I pull the plug on it

I bought the key @Lexus of San Diego about 2 years ago. the key was$135 & programming, cutting, was an additional $60.$175 after taxes. about 8 months ago the original key broke off the remote.so I got a key shell off ebay, put the remote in the new shell& had a locksmith cut thekey for $40.hope this helps!

I went to superior lexus in Kansas city and paid 273.40 for an extra key. I locked my key in the car so they had to order me a key overnight. I don't understand why these cars lock up so quick.

While it's nice to have another master and the remote built in, if you're simply looking for a spare to enter the car if you lock the master in there by mistake, just get a regular one like this one right hyah, pay to have it cut and program it yourself (or pay them to do it). Then you have a master and a spare. If you're concerned about needing a second master, then the one you linked to should work and it's a fairly good price - but it's used. You should be able to get a new one for not much more than that.

I bought a flip key from this seller (they sell regular fobs too)

And had a pretty good experience with them.

Correct - provided you have the master. No master = the reflash as he indicated. Not a cheap undertaking, either.

When you program a key with a master key, how do you know if it becomes a master key? Or when you program a key it will always become a master?
I'll buy that key from your post if I program it and it'll become a master just so i dont have to reflash in the future.

Master keys can only be programmed as master keys. all master keys (regardless of remote/non-remote) are BLACK.
Valet keys can only be programmed as valet keys. all valet keys are GREY.
For you guys wanting to buy these JUST to have an extra Master Valet key on hand for the anti-theft system, there is a cheaper alternative.
Gentlemen, the Non-Remote Master key:
There is a decent version of these on ebay (same shape/logo as OEM) that work FINE as spare keys. They can be cut/programmed just like stock and can be found on the great auction site for the princely sum of ~$10-15/each shipped. I've bought 3 (multiple cars) and had them cut locally for cheap and then programmed them myself, all working fine.
