Default GS400 Rear Spoiler is loose

Hi CL Folks,

My 1998 GS400 Rear Trunk Spoiler appears to be getting looser and looser. Any tips on how to tighten / seal before I attempt to open it up and damage further please?

Use a wrench on the screws to make sure they're tight instead of a screw driver. Take off the spoiler and put double sided tape between the trunk and the spoiler to help keep it from vibrating. Mine was doing the same thing and now it's perfect. The trunk shuts solidly instead of the spoiler vibrating when you shut it.

is it simply looking under the trunk to find the screws?

Also, wouldn't double-sided tape create a gap and allow for water seepage? Doesn't the trunk spoiler need to be flush against the trunk, or no?

Open the trunk, and to the right or left of the trunk where the spoiler overlaps, there's a cover which has screws under it. Take those screws off and the spoiler will pop, not fall off. Put some double sided take between the spoiler and the trunk. There will be no leaks or anything to worry about since the spoiler itself is mounted on brackets which is drilled into the trunk. You could take the spoiler off and leave the brackets without having to worry about leaks.

I hate to be a resurrector of threads but i removed my spoiler to tighten the brackets attached to the trunk and i noticed they were loose, however theyre riveted to the trunk. Am i screwed?

MUCH better than making a new thread

i dont think you can tighten these cause the mounts are riveted
