Looking to pick up a GS
Good morning forum members. I'm here because I'm in search of a 00-04 GS300 turbo or GS400/430 and was curious about some of the quirks with these cars. I am currently a die hard BMW guy with a couple of M cars already but I really like the GS models and found a few turbo models down in Miami.
Are there any specific issues to the GS300 turbo that I should be aware of and is the GS400/430 that much better of a car over a stock 300? I'm really looking for a turn key daily driver, but something I can have fun with at the same time.
Thanks!

If I was to look at a GS to buy, I personally would look under the driverside floormat as the heater core case has been known to leak (or get clogged up) and leak onto the driver's side.. yes.. its the driver's side and not the usual passanger's side. Also, I would drive the car on the road aroun 55-65 mph as many of the models have an issue with shaking at highway speeds when the wheels are properly mounted and balanced. Those two are majors that i would look for. Good luck with your buy!
If yuo wanted a turn key DD i would just go with a gs400/430 as you get decent power and the reliability of a stock car. If you went with a gs3 turbo, youre going to have more problems just due to the problems aftermarket turbo cars have...
I have a 99 gs4 with 170k miles and have only had to do routine maintenance until i just fixed my AC last week. You will find this forum will be helpful in your DIY's too. Good luck man and let us know what you go with! Where are you from in FL?

Thanks for the heads up! I'm in Cape Canaveral, I work at Kennedy Space Center so plenty of open roads here to get the car up to speed. Looks like I'll narrow my search to the GS4/430 then and not worry too much about the turbo setup. I'm really looking for a problem free ride at this point. My M3/M5 are a maintenance headache but run good when all is well. This car would really give me an opportunity to work on those and not worry about a DD.
