GS400 braking noise?
Hey guys …my gs400 is making this weird squeaking noise when I brake sometimes. The sound appears to be coming from under the steering wheel.. I changed my front brakes and checked my brake fluid level but that noise is still there.. The weird thing it doesn’t happen every time. The only reason it bothers me besides it being loud ..I’m think it might be a dangerous.

Do a search and check out the suspension and brake forum. A common problem in the GS from 98-00 is the abs pump/booster which is part of the master cylinder. This could be causing your problem. Mine will whine during startups on cold mornings for about 2mins, an early sign that one day - maybe not soon that my master cylinder will fail and my power brakes will no longer be! But another indicator I've read before this happens are seeing the break light and VSC lights steady on your dash....hope this helps...

my guesses:
- hard brake pads (high pitched noise that goes away when you push harder on the pedal)
- some bushings are squeaking (one squeak when you start braking, one squeak when you come to a stop)
