2000 GS300 misfire in cyl 1,3,5
Today my wife calls me at work saying the car is shaking bad when at idle. I meet her up after work, start the car and notice the shake. No unusual sounds but I did notice a subtle, different, odd exhaust smell. I drive the car home and notice no huge change in performance other than some slight hesitation from the line. The engine seems to smooth out as the RPMs increase. I also notice the check engine light blinking so i swing into Autozone and they scan it and tell me misfires are happening in 1,3,5. I did not get the codes printed which I should have but from google searching this could be plugs, coil packs, injectors.. Among other things. I did read that cylinders 1,3,5 are on separate coil packs so that may eliminate the potential for that problem. I also need to have an o2 sensor replaced but thats been needing that for 6 months and I have never had issues with bad o2 sensors causing issues on other vehicles.... Please advise.

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a combination of a couple things. I had a leak at the back of the plug valley and coolant was filling the spark plug holes. Once that was fixed the misfire stopped but it would shake at idle still. That was fixed by replacing the oil control valve. Now it's good as new and you'd never guess it has 255k miles

I was thinking o2 sensors. My dad had this problem when he had the car and while he doesn't remember specifics, he does recall the o2 sensors being replaced. I am replacing bank 1, senor 2 tonight which is what initially threw a code. I will also pull, inspect, and clean the others. If that doesn't work I will get the codes and see if its deeper than this..

Doesnt the oil control valve give a code though? Asking because im having the same issues today and wanted to know if its just the wires or the ocv since the misfire is mainly on idle.
