Default external system error *someone HAS to know the answer to this* >_<

i was listening to a cd while driving, and it just stopped playing. the first message the screen displayed was something about the cd cartridge not being found. i tried to eject it, but it won't come out. after i turned the car off, a new message comes up on the navi screen that says 'the external system is not connected.' i took it to hennessy this morning, and they told me that this problem is not common, and it's caused by playing burned cd's. i've been playing burned cd's since i had the car, so maybe the car just didn't like me playing solange, lol. i was hoping it was a fuse or something, but they told me that they can't eject the cartridge. in short, they told me that i needed a new changer. please please please help.

I have the same GS that you do and have no problem with burned CD's. There was a TSB that was about CD's skipping that Lexus blamed on burned CD's though. Did you try to take out the changer and fix it yourself?

not yet. i'll take a look at some diy's here before i try yankin it out the dash. i can't believe lexus suggested replacing the system, which woulda been around 1200. i'll order one from ebay first. the nice dude at the dealership said he's only seen this occur 2 or 3 times, and in each instance, the changer had to be replaced. =(
