I could be mistaken.
I am using a dvd player, has nothing to do with TV signals. Although right now if i attach an antenna I will be able to get some local air channels but don't want to put antenna on my car, So I am just using the system to play and see dvds

The only problem I noticed is that when u are watching from the back seat it does not seem that bright and clear and that is because the Navi screen is tilted. If u should raise up a bit then it is as good as a regular lcd. But from the front seat its as good as LCD. I will take pics and post later today.
i have a ps2 which i use as a dvd player and the quality of the stock display is clean. Its not as clear a new lcd display but it does the job, i also have a rear view camera connected to the stock nav unit and that quality is ok.Games or movies the display looks good. Worth it.

Wow... the quality isn't bad at all. If the stock nav resolution is that good, why do we have a crappy cream colored display? Yuck! I like the display when you go into the settings mode. Man.... I may have to buy this for my car but I hate wiring.

Guys dvd is possible on 98-00 GS, I put this setup together on my old GS back in '04, parts alone were close to 1K back then, Nav converter, dvd player,tv tuner, rearview cam and various wires, connectors and such, don't remember everything we did but you do cut four wires at the nav computer, not a big deal, dvd player was custom mounted under the nav screen in place of the ash tray, very clean install, btw I still have most of these parts here somewhere, if anyone is interested in them send me a pm, now a few pics I dug up.

Install

DVD

Rearview Cam

TV Tuner

The dvd player has a built in Tv Tuner. Also if u want the sound to play through the stock system, u need an FM Modulator of FM wireless transmitter.

Where did you get the part for $250? I see it for closer to $350. Where's your hookup?

I think I'm going to try to get it and install it under the stock 6 disc changer in the glovebox... That is if I can find one that fits where I want it... If not maybe below the pass seat....

Alpine has a unit that plugs to the stock nav system. It allows you to hook up your ipod and xm radio and play video
