Default Has anyone done a manual swap on a GS400/430?

Looking to do it on an sc400 or gs430. Anyone want to help me round up the parts?

So far-
6 speed transmission with adapter plate (set available from an aussie company).
shift ****
Pedals
Master/Slave cylinders
Driveshaft
Various mounts and wiring.

For anyone who's done this, how did you trick the ecu? Did the ECT trick work?

I need the help!

Contact Rod Millen. They did it on their IS430 project, where they swapped in a gs430 engine into a is, and a 6-speed supra tranny. Lotso wiring problems.

Cannonbear,

Try out the search feature . Check out these threads I found by searching the GS forum for 'manual swap' among others:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ht=manual+swap
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ht=manual+swap

Good luck, this will be one massive project

Hmm, sure would like to ask him a question or too!

I've done a manual swap before, but that was on a honda.

I searched but didn't find too much relevant answers, and no real data on anyone having finished it. Lextreme.com turned me onto some of the parts i'll need but no info on the GS swap, due to most of their swaps being done on other cars.

Gonna call around to some of the shops, see if they can help me.

hhaaa, coz'..... i can't?! man, trust me, you guys don't see me hide stuff all the time. but that means when i can't say something, i can't.

but think of it from electronic point of view. the v8 right now is working together with a 5 speed auto, everything under the same roof on the same computer which so far no one (and i mean no one) has cracked it down yet. so unless you are able to override the whole system, you are faced with quite a few problems

The ECU of course would always be the hard point in the swap, but i've also heard of using the toyota crown ecu since it has a separate tranny ecu, from there you can cut and omit a few wires and trick the ecu into thinkin its always in neutral. A few on lextreme.com have done it but none are saying anythin which makes it a hard task to do some research on.

I understadn the secrecey of this swap, but a stick gs430 would be killer.

well all i can say is it's nothing we all have to wait long... i suppose.... last time i talked to the guy was like 2 months ago, and he said it's being done already, so...

and about the ecu, that's very interesting thoughts. the thing i am not sure is how to tune the new ecu for the engine and stuff. definitely don't want the car to run but the timing / air fuel ratio / etc... are running sub par.

plus, also keep in mind there are tons of other stuff related other than just between the tranny and engine. tons of sensors, ac, etc.... to name a few.

but then again i don't really know a whole lot about these stuff. i only hear from here and there, so i could be farting all along

oh and richie, if you come to the US, i can consider telling you
