Hey what's up ranger,
Even though I have a SC mine is the 051 Diamond White Pearl, and from what I believe they still are using that Pearl White color up to today on the GS and other models.
Hope that helps

We call it "DWP" and on the GS it was produced from 1998-00. Then it went to Crystal White from 2001-2004. Some of the reason was that the DWP turns on the side plastic lower panels a yellowish color. The car has to be repainted. Lexus does it under warrenty.

REALLY???? THey will repaint the lower panels if it turns yellow under WARRANTY??? I bought a used GS but it is Lexus certified and has a great warranty, but I was under the impression that those types of things (ie:, wear and tear, cosmetic, etc.) wouldn't be covered. I even thought if I went in for touch up paint that wouldn't be covered.

If this is true I'll be happy! I haven't noticed it on my GS but if it does happen that will be great if they can repaint it.

Kedra, if it is under warrenty and your car is a 98-00 GS DWP, they have to repaint the lower sides on the car. The front and rear bumpers were not affected, but I got a great relationship with my dealer and they repainted the whole bottom of my old 98 GS. The car looked brand new. This is before my paint job. You can clearly see the bottom is yellow.

This is me AFTER they re-painted my car UNDER warrenty.

Fock, here are the pics, I can't link them.

This is interesting.....Audi, Cadillac, and Infiniti were the companies that first introduced this color and perfected it....and they didn't ( to my knowledge ) have this yellow-stain problem. Maybe it is just a problem with the materials Lexus uses to make these panels with....somehow it reacts with the oyster-pearl materials and texture in the paint.

The turning yellow is mainly due to the Gold flakes in the Pearl paint, Most Lexus’s turn a bit yellowish after a few years and all you have to do is just wet sand the car and everything goes back to normal. But I don’t know why only the bottom half of the GS turned yellow, maybe its a composite material or a plastic.
