Having experienced the Bi-Xenon headlights on a previous GS 350 before the GS 450h, the LED headlights are
extraordinarily better by a factor of a gazillion.
So Lexus's justification was that not having the Auto High Beams is no big deal, since the Bi-Xenon headlights aren't bright enough to bother anyone?
Maybe I'll just keep the high beams on all the time.

That's not recommended - it could bring about confrontation you wouldn't want...

Maybe you are experiencing oncoming traffic that is down in a valley or up a hill where their headlights are not directed toward you and cannot be assessed by your car's sensor.
Mine have been awful, in both my 2019 and my 2020. They stay on in high beam when I come to a four way intersection/traffic light, blinding cross traffic. They stay on in bright too late with oncoming traffic so I have to manually click them off. No hills or valleys. They’re similar in my Highlander, but work well in my Tundra. The feature is useless to me in my GS.

@JDR76 - That's really strange. For the Lexus GS the Auto High-Beam feature is suppose to automatically activate the high-beams at 21 mph and revert back to regular headlights below ~17 mph. (See below image from owners manual).

If your high beams remain on when slowing to a stop for a four-way stop intersection/traffic light then something is badly wrong.

Yup, on both my 19 and my 20. They don’t turn down when I come to a stop. Worthless feature for me.

Yea that almost sounds like it's not on. Mine also "dim" to low beam when coming to a stop sign then turn back on when when above 20ish MPH.

I use it most of the time. They take care of also dimming when approaching a car from behind (provided they have their taillights on). There has been a couple times when they'll actually flash cars that leave their high he's on (or it could have just been my imagination).

Then both the 2019 and the 2020 need to visit a qualified technician in your Lexus dealership's service department because something ain't right with both of them, which is really, really strange that two GSs built a year apart have their Auto High-Beam features that don't work as they should.

Does it say "Auto" in your cluster in green when you have the Auto high beams on? I'm guessing yes, since you say it works in your tundra.

At least for me, if I have it off then then turn it on, it'll give a message that it'll activate next time you engage the high beams, and a green Auto will appear in the top right whenever the headlight stalk is forward.

Yes, this is exactly how mine work. I get the AUTO notification in the gauge cluster and they do go on and off with passing traffic. I just find them to be really slow to react, and often don't disengage when I come to a stop, particularly at a stop light.

It took me about 4 years to find that...LOL. Still don't use it, but thinking about getting jump charger/ air compressor combo, so that will go in there.

yeah, i want to find SOMETHING to stash in there. it's a shame to not use it. thinking about storing the manual and associated publications there, but the few times i'll ever want or need the manual, i can imagine it will be a huge pain in the **** at that moment for it to be in the trunk. definitely a first world 'problem', eh?

I keep my manual in that cubby in the trunk, which allows me to use the glove box for items I need regular access to. That setup has worked well for me over the years.
