Switch trim from alu to matte walnut?
I have to say I really hate the Aluminum trim. Absolutely the worst part of the car for me.
Anyone do any switches in trim? I would love to find someone with the matte walnut in NorCal who wants to trade...

The answer seems really obvious. He wanted an F Sport and Lexus does not believe in the "have it your way" approach as BMW does. I don't like it either but would buy an F Sport for myself (ours is my wife's car).

Prior to my 4GS purchase, I really wanted the F-Sport and was drawn to the non-wood paneling that I had in my 3GS. I now have a non-sport model and really enjoy my wood trim, partially because it isn't so glossy. However, I have had thoughts of vinyl wrapping my wood trim to piano black to match the door panel. I think that would look clean.

The better way to have gone about this probably would have been to have gotten a luxury model and made the F Sport front end swap. That believe it or not will be far cheaper than replacing the trim.

If looks are all you care about. Probably not the case for most F Sport buyers.

There are a number of trim kits on the market. WoodDash.com is one that I've seen on Mercedes and BMWs. They do make a number of kits for the 2013-2014 GS.

The wood trim is one of the reason I choose the lux over the F sport

Yeah, no cheesy kits, vinyl or covers for me. I don't mind going non-OEM for a finish, but it better be pretty much real wood replacement at OEM quality or better.
I bought the F-Sport for the suspension and sterring - And I pretty much drive in Sport+ mode everyday. I am not a "modder" and my opinions about that sort of stuff would probably start a flame war, so I'll refrain.

Its a point of argument whether the F Sport package really gets you anything other than that over a Luxury with AVS, especially if the F Sport is AWD. AWD F Sports loose the upgraded brakes, etc. If you don't have DRS the steering is the same.

Well, I have a RWD for the brakes. And when the suspension is down for Sport+, the steering feel is definitely sharper without any other adjustments.

I used to share the same sentiments about the aluminum trim before I bought the car, I hated the fact that I couldn't get an F-Sport with the wood trim. But I got the F-Sport anyways, mostly because of the suspension and driving dynamics. After the first week or so the aluminum really grew on me and now I think it looks nicer with my flaxen interior than the wood would have.
Now what would look amazing IMO is the glossy blackwood trim that comes in the LS in my GS F-Sport ...
