2014 GS 350 with eight-speed trans!!!
Lexus has announced the 2014 model year GS 350, which will now be equipped with the same eight-speed transmission seen on the IS F & new IS F SPORT.
Other improvements have been made to the USA edition of the 2014 GS model:
Flush mounted sensors for available Intuitive Park Assist
Full color display added to optional Heads-Up Display
Available Blind Spot Monitor adds Rear Cross Traffic Alert and power-folding mirrors
Luxury Package changes: LED foglamps, Superchrome finish for 18-inch wheels, and the rear armrest control panel display adds display option to view radio station and song title information.
Optional power trunk opener
Night View system discontinued
iPhone SIRI Eyes-Free system from Apple, which lets you call contacts, select and play music from iTunes, and use Apple Maps turn-by-turn navigation.
These improvements are an impressive update to a model introduced just last year, the eight-speed transmission is exactly what the GS needed. Nice to see Lexus applying the Kaizen practice of “continuous improvement” at such a fast pace.

Siri eyes free should be available for us '13 owners around years end. Another thread had a post where someone talked to a few techs and Lexus will be able to update our hardware.

I'd like to see real world performance numbers on the 8 speed transmission. Not just 0-60 times but 30-60, or 20 to 60 acceleration times. Depending on the gearing and how fast or slow the transmission shifts, it might be slower as it has to decide what gears to shift to. Maybe the biggest improvement will be fuel economy. Still it's a wonderful upgrade.
I may retrofit the trunk with power option. Just because it's cool. LOL

Ya, Siri will only interface with the iPhone 4S and later. Just upgraded to the 5S. So far, it's very nice not having to swipe anymore and use the fingerprint scanner. And iRadio is a nice addition. Really enjoy being able to control that from the steering wheel.

Likewise. I'm used to having my phone on a 5 minute password delay but now it has to be set to immediately to use the scanner.

Lead Lap
"Flush mounted parking sensors..."
Took them long enough with that "improvement"
Also, isn't the 8 speed transmission only on the RWD? I still think that is too many gears. Although in the future, we may have no choice.

It's actually not too many gears. I've driven the RX F Sport and it feels good in all power bands. Shifting is good as well. The tranny can skip gears if it needs and you get the fuel efficiency. I'm jelly, but the next ride will have it at turn in in my lease.
