Which one would you prefer ? I'm torn between the 2. GS has nicer interior, more luxury, much better reliability. CLA's exterior is beautiful and sporty but reliability is a big question. Their new engine is my biggest concern. Turbo 4 engine produced 355 hp sounds like a deal but doesn't it make engine work much much harder than 6 cylinders ?

GS without a doubt. The CLA interior is exactly the same as the one in the new A Class. Basically youre talking about cheap materials, hard plastics and a very very firm ride if you go for the Sport model. Also, rear headroom isnt very good and reliability wont top a Lexus.

The upcoming CLA 45 looks like its going to be great. Performance is just about the only aspect in which the two cars can be compared. The Benz has the GS beat in acceleration while handling between the two are probably similar with the mb being firmer and being front wheel drive biased AWD. In terms of space, reliability, livability, confort, fit and finish, quality, etc I don't think the CLA can compare. If you want to take off like a bat out of hell, get the CLA. If not, then I'd go for the GS which will still takes off albeit being a slightly slower bat lol.

The CLA is built around the engine which while impressive can and likely will be like most other German vehicles, higher maintenance. Meanwhile, the interior and the Nav screen and cheap interior touches make it seem more like a IS competitor. That aside, I have been with too many German cars over the year to ever go back. Less time doesn't at a dealership is always more important than a few more HP to me. But we each have our tolerances and preferences. Try one out, but I don't think you will be very impressed other than the slight improvement in accession.

CLA 45AMG and GS F are totally different level, if u wanna do some comparison, i will say CLA 45 AMG w/ BMW 135, if u consider a bigger car why not try the new 2014 E350 !

I'm just looking for a sport sedan and the new ES is not really in my book. I'm sure to test drive both of vehicle when CLA comes out later this year. I tend to keep it for 8- 10 years so GS is top of my list.

Go for the Lexus. I've had Mercedes and the maintanence is expensive. Had a much better dealer experience at Lexus too. Also, look at it this way...CLA is the bottom of Mercedes' range, where GS is close to the top. So quality, standards, and prestige will be different. I guess it depends what you're looking for. I feel that the GS is a better all around car than the CLA.

I still remember my ride home in my RX after testing out a Q5. I was so excited about the handling and sporting intentions of the Q5 that I completely over looked the lux feel of my Lexus. I ended up selling my RX and buying the Q5. Less than a year later I sold the Audi and now I'm back in another Lexus. You just can't beat these cars for comfort and every day civility.

And the Lexus will move when you need it too. May not be crazy fast, but they are no slouch either.
