To be honest I haven't read my owner's manual, but I badly scratched the edge of my hood lifting the windshield wipers up when I wash my car. I didn't realize this until recently when I was cleaning the car. The edge of the hood where the wipe blades contact, most of the clear coat has been scratched off. This is the result of lift the blades up maybe a total of 4-5 times. I'm assuming that if I didn't know any better, than the dealership would likely commit the same mistake. You guys should check your car.

Is there a method to lift the wiper blades up without rubbing against the hood or is this some bad design by Lexus? I tried lifting the blades up when the hood is open, but only the left blade will go up.

Lift the whole wiper up into snow mode first, then you can lift the wipers without touching the bonnet.

theres two different modes (similar to the 2gs) yours is prob in winter mode, when the washers still work, but are tucked down.

read your manual! it'll prevent silly scratches from happening to a brand new 60k+ car!

I don't see the need to lift them up high enough to scratch the hood, personally
