Purchased my CPO 2013 GS 350 in April of 2014. There was no whine. Now, with 40,000 miles on the car, I hear it. I took it to the Lexus Dealer and they tell me that after talking to the manufacturer, it is "normal for this vehicle with the miles it has on it." They also said, "it will get louder as you put more miles on it." What?!!! I am furious! I can't believe that this cannot be fixed! I surely would not have purchased the vehicle with it sounding like this!
Anyone out there with some good news about getting it fixed?
Thanks.

It's still there on my 2014 !
It is loudest after starting the car and in my case sounds like an alternator when a diode goes bad.
Subsides within a few minutes, but very few miles on the car.

I'm used to (and personally like to hear) all the mechanical noises from the engine, transmission, shift linkage, turbo spooling, blow off valve, solid lifters, tube headers, a big double-pumper Holley sucking air, etc., etc. of a real performance car...for which the GS 350 is a tiny bit.

Let's get a video and recording of this whine please! Cars make a lot of sounds - some normal some not, and its really hard to trouble shoot online without hearing it for ourselves..
If the dealer says its "normal for a high mileage car", then they should be able to tell you the cause of this normal sound too.. dont let them bs you there! They basically are saying they have no idea what you are talking about it sounds like to me..

I got the same response -- "it's normal" said it was the drivetrain, which is BS. What's interesting is that it does not happen in the cold weather, only when it warms up. But it's all normal for a $56K car :-)

The whine sound under some engine conditions happens on mine too and its normal. Not BS, if it happens on all the cars, its "normal". What would you expect the dealer to do about it? They didn't design the powertrain.
