Fuel Efficiency

I just finished my first tank of gas on the GS-F. With 100% city driving, I got 25.2 MPG. That's better than I get with my SC400, which has 56 less HP and comparable weight.

Turn off air conditioner ;)
I read ALL posts in this thread... My old Corolla used 25% more gas in a hot Summer time
Turn off air conditioner before making tests...
I am still on a first tank, 300 km total, and average is 19-20 Mpg (12.2L / 100 km)
I am Toronto; heavily using air conditioner and radio.
Try this: when you stop a car, look at tachometer, and turn off air conditioner: RPM goes down about 25%
(at least on Corolla2009)
I'll check it tomorrow on GS350 AWD...

Good call on the AC. That might be the reason I'm getting the numbers I am.

Re: Welcome!
Thanks Mehrang!

I was thinking about GS350 vs GS450h and... $9,000 price difference, I drive about 12000 km a year, and I'll save $600/year on gasoline?.. And possibly battery replacement in a few years?...
Yes, I don't accelerate when I see red light ahead etc., and I have 12.2 l/ 100km average, after 200 km on highway and 130 in city... Which is about 19.5 mpg in first days of a car life, with AC set to max

My driving is hitting more like 13.5 l/100km. But that's because I do most of my driving in the city, with about 1/4 on highways on the weekends.
Well, welcome and hope to see you on the road soon!

If you're just concerned about cost of gas, the upgrade to a GS450h is not cost effective. Those of us with one generally do it for other reasons, too--a boost in power, reduced emissions, the smoother and faster response of a CVT, etc. Further perplexing the math is that some features that are package upgrades on the GS350 are standard on the 450h.

What to do if I always drive in downtown of Toronto and batteries are always down?
I am sure for $9,000 one can offer better "savings dynamics"... Such as cinematics drive without any electricity different braking technology.
In Europe: no any GS350... Only 450h... Gas there is about three times expensiver...

With Corolla, I had less than 5..5L/100km in a hot summer, using AC, and Cruise Control, 120 Km/h
In city, Toronto downtown + some highways too, I had in average 11L /.100km...
What about hybrids? I never tried, and I believe into science... Compare with Corolla

Yeah, I'm getting about 17 with 100% city driving. It has been 257 degrees everyday for 3 weeks so my A/C is on all the time. I also drive in S+ and I drive it hard occasionally. I have 1,800 miles on it. I fill up once a month. Living 2 miles from work has its privileges.

Totally off topic, but I still has a soft spot for the SC300/400. I owned a '99 SC300 that I picked up in 2001 with only 25k miles. Loved that car but I just found that technology and convenience had moved on. I wish Lexus would bring it back in some other form. Still a beautiful car to this day!

eh?
isn't 5.5L / 100km better than 9.409L / 100km? (less fuel consumed per 100km, so Corolla gave better mileage) - or am I overlooking something obvious?
The GS350 is rated at 28mpg hwy (19mpg city). The 2012 corolla is rated at 34mpg highway (26mpg city) - however, 5.5L/100km equates to about 42.7mpg - significantly higher than EPA ratings
