Default Turbo Question

Hey guys, just a quick question.

In order for me to put a turbo in my 93 GS300, would I need to change anything with the transmission at all?

The engine is the 2jz-ge. I've already done plenty of research on the engine and the engine seems fine when it comes to handling the power.

It's not a big turbo at all, just a small one.

I would love to hear back from you guys !

Thanks

The stock GS auto trans isn't good above 300 or so HP so if you're under that its good from what I've read. I'm sure some people have made more but its a matter of reliability and it could last years or days. Not something I would test.

you may want to check this thread on supraforums.
It shows how to make your stock auto A340 transmission (A340, A341, and A350 are in 91-97 aristo or GS300 and sc300/400) shift way faster and/or firmer between gears. Not only that, but within the post there are a few links to guys who are pushing ~500hp to ~750hp on their stock auto transmissions(moded) as well as the GM TH400 auto trans. I believe this info will work with our a341 trans as well. I myself am extremely eager to perform this, and I will soon after I finish my other mods.

How to make your A340 auto transmission last:

I've read of Supra guys running 600whp thru their a340e trannies without a problem. And they can be had for as low as $250...

What are your power goals? Do you want to go manual or stay auto? I should have asked that first....

Swapping to the turbo or v8 auto requires a different kickdown setup. I'm sure its been done but needs to be addressed. Its not an easy bolt in replacement.
