Diagnosis: Strange Front Engine Noise (Vid)
Just noticed a strange noise coming from the front of the stock motor (150k miles). Sounds like the fan is hitting something, but it is not upon inspection. It happens randomly at idle or low RPMs. From research, some say that it might be the serpentine belt tensioner going bad, but wanted to confirm. Has anyone experienced this noise?
Update: 6/2/12
So I drove the car this afternoon and heard a thump while stopped at a light. I thought nothing of it and continued on my way to lunch. After getting home, I popped to hood to checkout the noise and this is what I find sitting in the engine bay. Turns out that the lower fan shroud was loose for some reason and got kicked up by the fan to the engine bay. Fortunately, it is still intact and no other damage was done. This might have been related to the noise I posted in the vid, but will see if it comes back.

I think your best bet is to goto harbor freight and get yourself a cheap stethoscope... It'll be your best friend.....
internet diagnosing FTL, when you get it to make the noise, start probing around on things
you'll find whatever is making that noise pretty quickly, you could also take the belt off and see if it makes the same noise to narrow down what system its comming from...
you defintely have a good whine from something as a side note......
