well im all about doing the grinding and saving the money, to me it seems like it would be fine, i was just worried about screwing the thread up with ginding the ball joint bolt and nut and not being about to take the nut off or put it back on, seems like the hardest part of putting it back on besides starting it is lining the angle up

Yeah sounds like a good plan and nice to have others input before you do it. One word of advice is grind the bolt as far as you feel comfortable with then install the top bolt of the caliper and roll it down and use a sharpie to mark where to grind and do it in very small steps until the bottom bolt threads in easy.
