I have the engine out of the car right now so It was relatively easy. If you have the engine in the car Just take the motor mounts apart well loosen them and then place a jack under the engine and drop the subframe. I suspect that you will have to drain the powersteering and disconnect the rack and pinion... Not hard just time consuming...

Polyurethane will work ONLY if you get the sleeve to be centered to the same spec as OEM unless you want to run a different caster angle.
Another thing to note is that if you just fill in the bushing, the urethane will not hold onto the arm. Take a look at the Daizen bushing (for 2GS, not sure if 1GS has any) and take a good look at the caster bushing. It doesn't look like the OEM bushing for a reason.

in the manual its refered to as control arm2 or something like that but if it were adjustable you would be able to adjust the castor so what your calling it is the same to me and easier to figure out .
if you got access to a machine shop try and see if you can get a aluminum insert made. i seen them offered on yahoo auctions before

I just did this on a set of 2GS gen bushings that were starting to show signs of splitting so I injected or pushed it into the cracks to bond it together and then filled the entire area as well. I haven't put them on the car (since these don't fit a 1GS) but afaic, they should at least pass visual inspection and will stop them from getting worse for a while at least.
