Car slid forward while on reverse
So I was parking my car on a slope facing downhill. I was using the 3-second hold function with the brakes to help me. But then when I hit the gas pedal, car slid forward and hit the car in front. My grill was smashed in. I guess I didn't apply enough throttle. My gripe is that these new cars should at least hold still if I'm in reverse and my foot on the gas pedal. sigh.
Here's the damage:
Any idea on the cost the repair?

I own a 2014 GS 350 RWD luxury and to my knowledge the car will NOT activate hill stop assist while you were in reverse. My car will hold its brakes on a hill if i am in DRIVE mode. My guess is you assumed hill assist is working but it didnt and your car just slides the minute you let off the brakes.
Before I made this post I also went over to my cousins house and he as the same car but his is a 2013 GS 350 RWD fsport. And even on his car hill stop assist will not work on his car either while reversing.

My guess is OP thought the hill assist was activated (while in drive), but it deactivates when you shift out of drive, and he let go of the brake before the car engaged reverse which caused it to go forward.

Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) helps to increase driver confidence when ascending hills. While stopped on an incline, conventional vehicles may roll back once you step off the brake. HAC helps maintain the vehicle's position by applying the brakes to all four wheels until the vehicle begins moving forward.

Thanks for the insight, guys. But I did use the feature several times to maneuver into the spot. What I did was put it into reverse, hit the brakes all the way down, and then apply throttle. It did work. I just didn't press hard enough on the accelerator hard enough that time.
I was going to use the parking brake but felt weird to have to lean forward to press it while giving it gas. But I guess that wouldn't have helped me avoid the accident. Well, lesson learned. Thanks for chiming in, everyone.
