This morning I noticed what looks like a water spot on the plastic lens of my instrument cluster, right around the speedometer area. I haven't used any products on the cluster since I got the car, nor have I noticed it before. The only thing I can think of having done differently is that I dusted the cluster a bit this morning with a swiffer. Very lightly dusted. I got he car used, maybe that removed something that had been hiding the spot?

Regardless, no idea what caused this spot, but I can't get it off. I've tried a wet finger, alcohol, and some good ole rubbing -- no change.

Anybody have tips on how to treat it? I'd rather fix in-situ than have to remove the cluster or replace the lens. I found this thread, but perhaps folks here have additional advice?

Perhaps you could post a picture of this "spot". I have used something called "Inner Clean" by Chemical Guys and I have found the results to be pretty good. It has gotten most or all of the spots out that I have tried to remove.

It's tough to get good lighting, but I gave it a whirl. Two images from different angles showing the spot.

As it's been a few days since I first noticed it, I've been able to see my instruments rather than fixate on the problem. Still, I'd love recommendations on how to clean/fix it.

I have used toothpaste on a soft fiber rag to polish plastic watch faces and glass objects. It is mildly abrasive and makes a good light polishing compound but I'm not sure I'd use it on your car's instrument panel cover. It could possibly make it worse. I think I would ignore a small spot like you have. I don't think it would be worth the cost to have it replaced.
