the other day. upon starting my car, the traction control light kept flashing, and i couldn't change gear.

I turned the car off and started it again, and it worked okay..

what could it be to cause it to happen?

The owner's manual doesn't give a whole lot, other than it indicates a malfunction in the VSC, TRAC, or hill-start assist control systems and to have it inspected.
