Auto mirror dimming issue?
While driving on the highway at night I noticed it doesn't look like my rear view mirror or side mirrors dim very much when someone is behind me with their brights on. So I covered the sensor on the mirror with my thumb and it didn't seem to become less opaque. So then I grabbed a flashlight and shone it into the sensor and it may have been a bit more opaque but not much if any!
Is this normal for this vehicle or do u think I might have an issue? And yes the dimming function was turned on At least the green light was on ! In my Acura TL it is very obvious when the mirrors dim, hence my question about the GS.
Another thing that is bugging me is the auto headlights. Sunny day, open garage door, start car and the headlights are on until I drive out into the bright sunlight. I've changed the auto on sensitivity to both extremes with no change.
I've only put 5000 miles on the car since I bought it so I can't say if these items worked differently when brand new or not? And as usual the dealer will likely tell me it is normal, regardless!
Thanks...

If your car is tinted, it'll have a big effect on the auto dimming sensor. I know my rearview dims despite my 35% tint, but my side mirrors don't appear to dim but I'm not sure if they do on the '13.

My headlights do the same as you describe. While it is bright outside and seems like lots of light coming into the garage, it really isn't all that much, and for the sensor pretty much all the light coming in is from the front side.

Try covering the back of the mirror sensor first and then
start the car. All three mirrors (one on CT...) will instantly
get as dark as they are going to get. Uncover and cover
the sensor to see reaction time. Works best in daylight
but you can turn on the dome/map lights and angle
a business card to direct the reflection. Cold weather
will slow the process.

I don't think my 2013 GS350 has auto dimming side mirrors. My rear view mirror inside dims if I remember correctly but then again I don't really need it as I have limo tint in the back.
