L Certified, First Maintenance Questions
I own a 2013 GS 350 AWD Luxury that I purchased L/Certified. I just got back from a trip to Colorado, and having put over 2000 miles on the car with that trip alone, it's now time for it's first maintenance.
When I bought the car, it has 52,7XX miles on it. I just passed 58k when I got home and the service light is on.
Do I have to do anything special to schedule the maintenance or just call/make appointment online with my local Lexus Dealer (Wayzata in MN) and schedule the 60k service? I know you get the free maintenance for 2 years/20k miles, but I bought this car from another state and had it shipped here, not sure if I need to do anything different to get my service performed for free.
Slightly related question. I unfortunately got a small crack in my windshield on the trip, the size of a nickel. You guys think they can fix it without replacing the windshield? If not, I'm assuming the windshield isn't covered under the L/Certified warranty? Probably not, which means if they need to replace it there goes $500...sigh. Damn trucks kicking back rocks!

A chip from road debris is not covered under warranty. Whether it's repairable probably requires a trained eye to look at it. A nickel-sized chip sounds pretty big to me, but I'm no expert on that. If it were broken due to defective glass, that would be different.
You should be able to just call the dealer & setup an appointment for the service.

As for the map updates, I'm not really sure, as this will be my first time taking a Lexus in for maintenance.

You should contact your car insurance company about the glass. Some insurances have specific glass coverage because if it needs to be replaced it will most likely cost above $500 (I'm assuming that's how much your deductible is). Some insurances cover the glass replacement with no deductible too. It all depends on your coverage.

You can buy a map update if it's something you want. Whether a dealer pushes products/services really depends on how it's run. I have the original maps that came with the car. While they're not exactly up-to-date, my phone serves that purpose far better, just not on the big screen.
If you do plan on going to the dealer, try to find out in advance who the good service advisers are and setup with them. A good SA will make life easier in the long-run.

I get that there's no 58k service, but when I got the vehicle the last service was at 52,7XX miles, so since it's been 5k miles it's up for service, or at least that's what they set it to, as the light came on as soon as I hit 57,7XX miles. When I typed those miles in on the service scheduler, it scheduled me for the 60k service.

I have a 2014 and just got the software update during my last service with no additional cost. Not sure about the 13 not getting the service but I'm sure if you call the technologist instead of the service dept you could get better results. Those guys seem so much easier to work with on the settings and tech stuff with our cars
