Panel removal during tinting
Hello fellow members! First of all would like to introduce myself and thank you all for the valuable information I obtained on this forum!
I picked up my 2015 GS350 AWD with premium package in Starfire Pearl (black interior) a couple of months ago and couldn't be happier with the car.
One thing that bugs me is not having tints as I've always had 35% on all my cars. As much as I want to just get it done, wanted to consult with you regarding panel removals and any other alteration to the vehicle. I searched but could not really find an answer to this.
So, for those of you who have tints - were the door panels removed? And if yes, did you notice any rattles afterwards? Additionally, were any parts of the doors cut (my previous accord had weather stripping cut off so not to scratch tints)?
Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the GS Club! I am also a new recently new member myself.
As for the question about removing panels for tint, I can say that the shop I take all my vehicles to have never removed any panels. Especially now with the new technology, shops are able to print out each window by computer. This means each piece is perfectly cut for you car so there is usually little to no cutting involved. A good shop should not need to remove any panels.

I have a 2016... and yes they did remove the panels... not sure if they did because they always do regardless of the car (I've taken several different cars there in the last 6 years and I've noticed) or because in fact it needed to be removed. I cringe every time I hear that popping noise of the panel when its being removed but no issues so far

The place I go to also pops the panels. Some cars have a second sill wipe about an inch below the panels top that can curl the tint if not done right. I don't know if the GS has the second rubber wipe but some European cars do.
I took three cars there and none of the cars developed a rattle in the door panels after tinting so far.

I have a 2013 GS350 and the shop that tinted my windows did not remove the door panels and they did not remove the door panels on my 2008 IS350 and I have had no problems

My Lexus dealer contracted someone in to tint my windows. I was there the whole time and never once saw them remove a panel. My car was a 2014 GS 350 bought brand new at that very same dealer. I figured that if i let Lexus oversee my tint if anything was wrong the dealership would fix it at there expense. When the tint guys arrived they already had a computer printout precut and ready to apply. It took them 4 Hours but they were very meticulous and detailed. I had all windows tinted Llumar 30% and front windshield tinted with Llumar Air 80%. Tint has been flawless since. And NO RATTLES!
In my opinion if my guys can tint without removing panels and deliver a flawless job then anybody who says they must remove a panel must be really bad at there job or just want to take the easy way out at the expense of your $60k car. Just say NO to door panel removal.
