Just occurred to me, are they still doing your clear bra? I would encourage you to think of things that the dealership can do VS corporate. Went down that road with my own situation. They have to submit a case # to corporate for that sort of thing, and it takes a long time to get a reply. The dealer can do things like clear bra, window tinting, repaint maintenance plans or prepaid services internally and you can get that wrapped up and agreed to immediately.

Yes they're going to do the clear bra still, once the paint cures, so in about 30-45 days.

Again, my dealership has gone above and beyond to make me satisfied. I'm getting a new bumper painted, clear bra, and illuminated door sills (for having a bad tint job and touch up job). I'm only seeking deminished value from corporate, not the dealership.

I'd be very surprised if you got it, especially on a lease (seeing that they are in fact the title owner). Keep us posted though.

For those here who have had bumpers or nav units taken from other cars, don't you wonder how the dealers sell those other cars? Do they disclose that it's been altered in some way? Or do they just make them manager or fleet cars for loaners?

I got another call from corporate today. They told me that they would be sending my claim to their claims department to have the car inspected for the deminished value and to talk to the dealership. They have to mail some forums out to me that I'll have to mail back before they can have a specialist come out to inspect my car.

I asked them if they were able to talk to the other two dealerships and they said that neither one would fess up, no suprise there, but even if they did it still falls on my dealership for not catching it during their inspection.

Basically all that you would be doing is passing your issue on to someone else hoping that they wouldn't catch it. To me that's pretty sketchy and I would never ask a dealership to do that because I know I'd be pissed if I found out that the car I just bought had a good panel replaced with one with a defect to make another customer happy.

I hope they use it as their loaners instead of selling it as a new vehicle. I feel bad for those poor bastards who went and bought a brand new car and later finds out that the vehicle has been frankensteined!

I think there is actually a VIN number sticker inside the bumper cover and u can see if it's actually ur original bumper.

I totally agree. That would be considered a fraudulent action (deliberate deception) to knowingly sell or lease a new vehicle with known defection parts that were swapped from another vehicle and not disclosed to the consumer.

I guarantee the donor vehicle is sold as new with no disclosure. I would just worry about yourself and your situation.

LOL, I didn't bend over and take anything. I noticed the damage before I took delivery of the car. There were no other cars in the region with the equipment level and color combination I wanted. The dealer had a car with a different color interior, and I could have very easily had that. So I decided to allow them to paint the bumper VS driving a car with an interior I didn't want for a number of years. Now my bumper is perfect, and I have the car I actually wanted.

I thought I recalled you saying your bumper did not have to be repainted because it turned out the small imperfection was just sap. Apparently it was not just sap on your bumper after all, and it had to be repaired and repainted. Glad to know you think it is 'perfect' now and you are happy with it being repainted.

The imperfection I thought I saw was after the bumper had been repainted, meaning an imperfection in the repaint. That turned out to just be sap. The bumper is repainted.

I got the car back yesterday. I'm definitely happy with the paint job. But the bumper actually rubs right under the passenger side head light. I have to take the car back in two weeks when I go out of town because they didn't fix the tint (every window had a bubble), install the illuminated door sills, or the clear door gaurds.

I'm glad you were able to go from 'very disappointed' to 'very happy' under those circumstances. Will the bumper rubbing require it to be repainted again?

Thanks, me too trust me. I'm just happy to have my car back.

No, it shouldn't unless the paint rubs off before I'm able to take the car back. I think they may have forgotten a clip or it got misaligned. Shouldn't be a huge deal. I'm taking my car, actually in the next hour, to my mechanic to see how much he'll charge to install RSR down springs so I may see if it's something he can fix quickly, if not I'll have the dealer do it.
