Is the Luxury option worth the extra cost.
In the next few days I am looking to buy a 2013 GS Nebula Gray with Light gray interior with a spoiler. I wanted the Blind Spot Monitor but in our area it does not come with the basic model. I need to move up to the luxury option which will include the ML sound system among other items but it also increases the cost by about $4500.
My question, "is there a tremendous amount of value for the extra $4500."
I am looking for comments from anyone who chose to move up to the luxury option as well those who chose to stick with the basic.
I currently have a 2000 GS (purchased new in 2000) that has been a fantastic car but am looking to update.
Thanks for your input.

I have the luxury package with BSM, ML, etc, etc.. and I love it. I test drove the basic, as well as having one as a loner for couple days, and the two are very different in road feel and comfort.
The lux does "sponge" around, but if you want to tighten it up a bit, theres always Sport+ for the suspension. Personally I like the lux packages, and the options that come with it, like the window blinds and the espresso wood option.

I had originally looked at the luxury package until I saw the Cabernet in color. I knew then that I HAD to have it. Completely happy with my choice and I still get BSM, ML, and park assist

If you're getting the light gray interior, I would get the Luxury package just to get the Espresso Wood. That would be a dynamite combo with light gray. Also, as the previous poster said, the seats have many more adjustments and more support.

The luxury has the AVS (adaptive variable suspension) that the basic model doesn't have right?
IMO, that alone will improve your ride-comfort SIGNIFICANTLY while simultaneously tightening up your handling. That suspension is "intelligent" as it is continuously monitoring the road conditions and adjusting the shock stiffness in response to road conditions ON-THE-FLY.

Just stick with the basic if road feel is important to you. The Lux with the adaptive suspension is definitely more "cushy". I'd also look at the F sport if all you want is the BSM.

Thanks for all of your input.
After reviewing all the options in the Luxury package, I decided to to go with it. I don't think it was any one item that pushed me over but it was the combination of things that were mentioned in this thread.
I have had my 2000 GS for 12 years and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I figure if I keep this one for that long, (I usually keep my cars for 10 years or longer) I will enjoy it more and the additonal cost won't mean that much.
I pick up the car on Wednesday and plan to detail it my way this weekend.
Thanks again
