I've asked myself this question many times. Also, why someone would buy a pickup truck when they never haul or tow, and then spend five grand or more turning it into a bro truck despite the fact that they never take it off-road (except when they take a turn too quickly and roll it into a ditch or wrap it around a tree). Of course, some people have paid $100 million or more for Picasso paintings, so obviously there are a lot of people with inexplicable taste.

I also have a theory that a subset of the people who do these kinds of mods are gay dudes who haven't yet accepted themselves – if you think about it, the car hobby is both a manly activity (thus maintaining their tough and macho self-image), but it's also a great way to meet lots of men. This also explains the bro truck crowd – it's not unusual for the most vociferous homophobes to be gay guys who are really deep in the closet.

Yeah I bet it looks way better in real time. If my wheels weren't new, I'd definitely have done the same but I have to stay stock for now.

You might even want to consider getting the clear plasti dip for the harsh winters you get up there, especially since they're new wheels. Could be worth looking into for a bit of added protection!

Oh I didn't know that clear plasti dip existed. And yes for sure I'm gonna look for it. Thanks for the tip!

Oh, and ignore the plasti dip remnants on the tires, I removed it all today and didn't get a pic.

Thanks! The wheels have lightened up a lot, so it's almost a direct match to the color of the paint now, which looks great. Much better than from when I posted these pics. And good choice on the color of your GS.

The original silver looks way better. You need contrast. Just like painting your house, what would it look like if your trims, roof and cladding is all the same colour?
