User 8822

I'm totally stumped and haven't been able to find anything about this yet - parked my car in the garage about a week ago and today I tried to turn it on and it wouldn't. The gear shifter is totally stuck and I can't change it from park. The dash says it's in R and the backup camera comes on as soon as I press start so they car does think it's in reverse. Anything you could suggest to try before I have it towed to a shop tomorrow I would really appreciate.

The brake light switch is working, I do press on the break to start as always so I don't think it's anything I am doing wrong.

Edit: tried to put a screwdriver into the whatever that hole is next to the shifter is but it still won't shift. Looks like there is a solid piece of plastic inside the little hole.

The transmission was rebuilt about a year ago.
