Default Lost my car, looking at a GS350

My piston exploded yesterday, Toyota defect in the engine. One day before the scheduled fix (FML)

I'm scrambling to find a car and found a Lexus gs350 for 11k at 91k miles.

I'm putting 3k down, I need it to last ~5years. Can anyone recommend this buy? I hear so much about reliability, and I'd much prefer the lexus to a civic. This also give me 10k miles to find and fix issues. The Carfax looks excellent, I just need to be confident I can push this to the 200k range.

How do you guys feel about your Lexus' now that they're seeing some age?

The GS 350's have been holding up pretty well. The main issues seem to be interior rattles and occasional oil consumption problems.

You should be fine with that car. Don't trust Carfax, it's a joke. Take it into a Lexus dealer and have a full inspection done, and if they find some minor issues you can get over, maybe you can haggle the price down to cover the inspection plus a little more. Best of luck.

I am interested to know as well, been lurking on the forum for 3-4 years and i hardly see thread on people saying GS350 engine would have blown up (other than the infamous recall) i think they are pretty reliable, every time people ask for opinion on buying a GS350 i see lot of good thigns to say about the car, i got a GS450h which is really a Lexus 3.5L V6 and with an extra electric motor combine together. they seems pretty reliable to me

I can say its reliable. I have an 07 gs350 awd with 180xxx (due to traveling for work) but has been great to me. Just keep up with the maintenance on it and you should be fine. Awd in the winter as i reside in MA is great.

I wouldn't call them unreliable, but maybe just not as reliable as others from Lexus. That being said, there are a ton of really high mileage 06-08 300s ad 350s with more than 180k miles
