GS 350 Oil Consumption
Hey Guys/Girls,
I was wanting to see how many of us in our group are experiencing oil loss with our 350's. I feel like a lot of us our having the same problems as the 300's. I know from my own experience that with in the last year my own car has had two Low Oil Lights come on and at least 4 times it was dropped off at the dealer for top offs. Just in the last 1,500 miles I have lost about a quart of oil. I have spoke to a few people who have suggested that maybe if there are a enough of us documented that maybe we could get Lexus to do something for us. I would like to believe that most of us would agree that Lexus saying that " Burning up to a quart of oil every 1,000 miles is acceptable" is not a proper answer to this problem.

Starting at 110k, I had to add a quart between (5,000 mile) oil changes a few months ago. But most recently, I had add a quart TWO times between oil changes. I read a few of the threads on the GS300. Has anyone with a GS350 had this issues resolved by the dealership?

Just hit 93000 miles and my 09 GS 350 has burned through all of the oil from my last oil change in 3K miles and through 2 Quarts that I added in a thousand miles.
So frustrating as I love this car and planned to keep it for several more years. Talking to the Lexus dealership on Monday to see what they will do.

Depends on what year of the LS you're talking about...as for the 2007's and up, I'd say using somewhere around a quart during a five thousand mile interval is about average...give or take a little bit. With my own LS I tend to use around 3/4 of a quart on the way to 5,000-6,000 miles, but I also am using a 0w20 synthetic. The lightweight synthetics are like water, it's so thin, I imagine if I stepped it up to a 5w30, it wouldn't use any oil at all.
There are people who own the older versions of the LS that claim they don't use any oil at all, but that's hard to believe because every engine uses a little bit of oil.

Toyota is certainly doing their best to cover up badly designed engines. The old days of bulletproof engines are long gone. Maybe this is actually engineered obsolescence across the board.
